Snoring Elephant by My Tent

Category: Uncategorized | Date: Aug 26 2008 | By: elephantsofbotswana

At exactly 02:38 am, in the early hours of the 26th of August 2008 I heard something shaking trees, in a moment I realised that it was an elephant feeding. Because now my neighbour elephant was around I didn’t sleep, it did not take a long time as after sometime I heard deep snoring and some strange sounds. I definitely knew that my neighbour elephant was around. I fumbled in the darkness as it was dark and I did not know exactly where I kept my touch and where the electric switch was as I was coming out of a deep sleep. I opened the window flap of my tent to have a glimpse of him but it was too dark. I am curious to have a glance of him. Every time, more often when I see an elephant in the wild I always presume that it is him/her. I need to see my neighbour and identify him.

Frankly for the snoring of this elephant is an adventure, one of my favourite sounds of Okavango Delta, it a true expedition, it is a calm natural sound

Hi Kate

I have been to Botswana twice and have met Doug graves, Jabu, Thiembe, and Morula — I am guessing that you have met Doug and “family” out in the bush !

I think about them all every day and wish i were there — If you know them, please tell them Andy, Shirley and Wendy say hi from the US

Andy
