Recently two young males have joined Pula, Ntongeni and Nandipa. They are a little taller than Pula so are about 8-10 years old. Pula is loving thier company and it is great to watch them interact and learn about each other.

Otherwise all is well. Pula is adapting well after his release nearly a month ago. We could not have asked for anything better, long may it continue.

Kate,
Are these ele families and herds close to the borders with Zambia and Zimbabwe? I’ve read that the elephants are not very safe if they cross those borders. Zambia in particular has gotten some very negative press on this, and I’m sure problems abound in Zimbabwe in its current state. Hope you don’t have to worry about this kind of thing where you are. I think the trans-border projects to expand elephant herd range are a great idea, but only if the animals will be safe in all parts of the corridor. What’s your take on this? Best Wishes.
